There are quite a few hidden treasures in the Smoky Mountains.  Big Creek Expeditions offers family fun with whitewater rafting trips.  At the end of the day you may even be greated with a pleasant rainbow just above the mountain skyline.

We even have our own mascot, so to speak.  Junior is our resident cat who ensures we are awake and ready to go early in the morning for an exciting day of rafting.

Dinner in the Smoky Mountains after Whitewater Rafting the Pigeon River

clock April 21, 2009 08:25 by author Jon Felderman

You don't have to go too far for a relaxing dinner after an adventurous day of whitewater rafting with Big Creek Expeditions on the Pigeon River.  There are several great choices just miles from our outpost with homestyle food, local charm, and a great mountain setting.

The Apple House is a wonderful family dinner spot nestled just off of I-40 in Newport, TN.  If you enjoy fried chicken and apples in all forms and presentation from apple cider to apple sauce to apple pie, you will love the Apple House.  Get there early because they close the kitchen soon after 8pm.

The Front Porch is a delicious Tex Mex restaurant with local flare.  It is less than 10 miles from Big Creek Expeditions and is a perfect dinner option after a long day of rafting the Pigeon River.  They encourage you to bring your own drink and on the weekends, they have live bluegrass.

The Barbecue Garden presents an outdoor eating experience based on the goodness of slow cooked barbecue.  Try all types of barbecue with great side options and enjoy a nice spring or summer night outside in their garden.

Places To Eat Before or After Rafting The Pigeon River with Big Creek Expeditions

clock April 10, 2009 17:17 by author Jon Felderman

The Bean Trees Cafe is just up the road.  You most likely passed it after getting off the interstate and driving to our outpost.  The review on Yelp gives it 3 out of 5 stars, which I think doesn't really give it justice.  If you don't mind kicking back and enjoying some conversation with your friends over good food and drink, then this place is for you.  You will definitely be given a home cooked meal as they have lots of choices for both breakfast and lunch.  I would highly recommend the eggs benedict and their coffee is unbelievable.

Pigeon River Smokehouse is also just up the road across the street from The Bean Trees Cafe.  Their barbecue is top notch, and I have eaten lots of barbecue.  The smokehouse is in the back of the gas station and the food is always fresh.
