Gear for Whitewater Rafting
Big Creek Expeditions Will Provide The Essentials

At Big Creek Expeditions, your safety is our number one priority, and we make sure you have all the essential gear for a safe and fun whitewater rafting experience. Here’s a detailed look at the equipment we provide and how it keeps you protected on the river:
Personal Flotation Device (PFD):
Every rafter is equipped with a high-quality Personal Flotation Device, commonly known as a PFD or life jacket. This device is designed to keep you afloat in the water, even if you fall out of the raft. Our guides will properly fit each PFD to ensure it’s snug and secure, and they’ll show you how to wear it correctly. The PFD is a non-negotiable piece of safety gear, and you’ll wear it at all times while on or near the river.
Helmet:
We provide helmets to all guests for head protection. Whitewater rafting can be unpredictable, and wearing a helmet helps guard against bumps, scrapes, or accidental impacts with rocks, paddles, or even other rafters. Our helmets are comfortable, adjustable, and thoroughly cleaned and inspected before every trip.
Paddle:
Every participant gets a paddle, which is your main tool for navigating the river. Before your trip begins, our experienced guides will teach you proper paddling techniques, how to hold the paddle safely, and how to work as a team with your fellow rafters. This training ensures you feel confident and in control while on the water.
What You Need to Bring:
The only gear you need to provide is:
- Clothing you’re comfortable getting wet in (synthetic, quick-drying materials are best; avoid cotton)
- Secured footwear (no flip-flops; water shoes, sandals with straps, or old sneakers work well)
- A positive attitude and sense of adventure!
We take care of the rest to ensure your whitewater rafting trip is both safe and unforgettable. Our guides are trained professionals, our gear is top-notch, and your safety is always our top concern.
