The Lower Section Scenic Float trip is perfect for guests wanting to spend time on the water but not quite ready for the action of the Upper Section Whitewater Rafting trip. As the river curves it's way through the gorge, it calms down a bit and offers introductory Class I-II rapids. Guaranteed to help you take a break from the rush of life and slow down to relax while soaking up the sun. Opportunities to see wildlife and various flora indigenous to the Smoky Mountains as well as beautiful views of the mountains.
Never rafted before? Don't worry. Guests are not required to have any previous experience.
The Pigeon River is dam controlled. Scheduled water release days are from April 30th-Aug 30th. Pre-Season and Fall rafting schedule is subject to seasonal rainfall. For more info, please call us toll free at 877-642-7238 or visit our water level information page.
The time slot that you and your group reserve is your check-in time. No need to arrive any sooner. Shortly after the check-in time, you and your group will receive a brief orientation talk that covers some of the basics of rafting. Guests will then meet their personal guide and recieve the necessary equipment, including a PFD (aka life jacket), helmet and paddle. After your guide double-checks to make sure all equipment is fitted properly, guests then simply walk across our property to the launching point for your trip where your rafts will be waiting for you.
Each trip on the Lower Section concludes with a short 10-minute bus ride back to our outpost, where guests can take a warm shower and change into dry clothes. But, don't forget about the pictures! Each group has a series of photos taken that you can check out in our outpost after your trip!
